PG Teaching 

The MD Psychiatry course was started in the department in 1984. Each year 3 candidates are admitted to the course. The post graduates have regular teaching schedule. They have long case discussions, short case discussions, journal club and seminars in each week. Teaching programmes are held regularly and uninterruptedly. Each PG student has to work up on a thesis subject and it has to be submitted to the University of Calicut, sufficiently in advance prior to the final examination.

DipNB Course in Psychiatry is started from 2008.

IMC Recognition : The MD Psychiatry course has been recognized by the Medical

Council of India (MCI).

Till now 51 persons have been awarded MD Psychiatry Degree from this institution

UG Teaching

          The first year MBBS students have four hours of classes on Basic psychology according to the present curriculum. In the 5th semester UGS are having 2 wks clinical posting in psychiatry. In the 6th semester there are 20 hours theory classes on various topics.

          Training is provided to MD General Medicine and DM Neurology post graduates in the Department.

          The Department  provides .lecturer classes and training facilities to BSc Nursing and General Nursing students of this institution.

Quiz programme and Gold Medal Examination

          In connection with Annual Conference of Indian Psychiatric society (Kerala State Branch) the Department conduct a Quiz competition in Psychiatry for UG Medical students and Dr.Abdul Rahman Memorial Gold Medal Examination in Psychiatry for the House Surgeons who are currently undergoing their Rotatory Internship every year for last many years.

CME programmes

          The department had taken initiative to conduct 2 CME programmes.
