CONSTITUTION AND WORKING OF THE COLLEGE

The College is administered directly by the Government through the Director of Medical Education. Principal  is responsible to the Director of Medical Education for everything connected with the college. The administration and internal management of the college is vested with the principal. The staff of the college and teaching institutions attached to the college, both teaching and non teaching will be under the control of the principal. Initial recruitment to the teaching staff will be done on the advice of the Public Service Commission. Subsequent promotions in the college will be made by the Government.

The MBBS course is of 4.5 years duration with 1 year of compulsory rotating resident internship programme after the final MBBS examination. The College will be closed on Sundays, gazetted holidays and such other holidays as may be notified by the authorities.

Integrated Counseling and Testing Centre  (Jyothis)

ICTC is attached to the Department of Microbiology. It renders voluntary counseling to walk-in-clients and also in-patients. Male and female counselors work from 9am to 4pm. HIV testing is done routinely and reports given. CD4 count is done in patients receiving ART. Sentinel surveillance is done every year.
